In Star Wars Rebels, Darth Maul temporarily wields a broken Inquisitor double-bladed lightsaber as seen when he meets Ezra Bridger on Malachor. Unlike his original Sith weapon, this saber is not of Maul’s own design, but a tool taken out of necessity.

The circular hilt and spinning twin red blades were engineered by the Empire to intimidate and hunt Jedi, not to honor Sith tradition. Maul uses the weapon pragmatically highlighting his adaptability and desperation after years of exile.

This lightsaber represents Maul’s fallen status; once a Sith Lord, now reduced to scavenging the weapons of lesser dark side servants. It underscores his bitterness toward both the Sith and the Empire, serving as a symbol of survival rather than dominance, until he eventually forges a simpler weapon aligned with his singular obsession: revenge against Obi-Wan Kenobi.
